For this purpose, the activists had stretched a long rope – about 300 metres long, according to their own statements – from the Dannenröder Forest across the water protection area and the B62 to the Herrenwald at a height of about 20 metres, in order to “connect the forests with each other”. Two banners were attached to it and activists have been on the rope ever since. According to the squatters’ own information, the gathering under the rope had in the meantime become a “registered vigil”.
